IN BRIEF

Company to market Net application

A new, locally developed Internet application is being brought to market, thanks to an $80,000 infusion from the Telecom Applications Research Alliance (TARA).

TARA will purchase $80,000 worth of stock in Bedford-based InfoInterActive Inc., pending regulatory approval, it was announced yesterday.

InfoInterActive, one of 20 alliance members, will use the money to develop Internet Call Manager, scheduled for release in 1997. The product enables Internet users with a single telephone line to monitor incoming phone calls while maintaining their online connection. Important calls can be taken, or routed to voice mail or another number.

InfoInterActive is using TARA's state-of-the-art private telephone network to test Internet Call Manager.

"The advanced facilities available through TARA provide InfoInterActive with a distinct competitive advantage," company president Bill McMullin said in a news release.

Founded in August 1995, TARA assists telecommunications companies in developing new technologies and services for the information highway.

TARA was established by Northern Telecom, MT&T, ACOA and InNOVAcorp.
