Halifax, Nova Scotia - Capitalizing on the opportunity to solve Y2K computer problems has enabled DDA Computer Consultants Ltd. to leapfrog onto the national stage. During the past two years the workload has doubled for the Halifax-based consulting firm, boosting it onto Profit Magazine's June, 1999 listing of 'The Next 100: Canada's Fastest Growing Companies'.

The Company boasts 410 per cent revenue growth over the past five years, from $596,799 in 1993 to $3,044,445 in 1998. During that period DDA's staff of full-time employees and independent contractors grew from 10 to 30.

Key contracts during this period included rewriting large corporate billing systems as well as providing resources for Y2K-related work for Maritime Life Assurance Company, Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre, and the Nova Scotia Government.

"Business is remaining strong although we have completed most of our Year 2000 work," observes DDA Principal Mario DeMello. "We are already serving our Year 2000 customers in other ways, which includes assisting them in locating qualified IT professionals through our new IT placement service. Business should remain strong well after the Year 2000 work is completed."

DDA has reinvested Y2K profits by converting its home-based business to a 1,600 square foot office and hiring both an officemanager and a marketing manager who is focusing on export opportunities in New England. The Company has also invested in new technologies to build upon its expertise in databasesto provide database-related Web development services.
